Why We Started GivJoi
It began quietly. Just one young runner, one real need, and one simple yes.

Our Story
Why we started GivJoi.
I will never forget the day it clicked.
We were at a local club practice, and one of the young runners in our community was out on the track trying to come back from injury. His parents mentioned he had just returned. But when I looked down at his shoes, I knew immediately what I was seeing.
His shoes were done.
By that point, Jamie and I had spent countless hours learning what young athletes need to stay healthy and keep growing. And in that moment, I knew this was not just about effort.
He did not need more heart. He did not need more courage. He did not need to want it more. He needed new shoes.
I went home and said, “Jamie, we’ve got to do something.” She did not hesitate.
Together, we quietly reached out to his parents. We wanted to keep it private. No spotlight. No attention. No credit. We simply got his shoe size and address, ordered a new pair, and sent them.
And when the shoes shipped… and then arrived… you could feel the joy and relief.
Later, we watched that same local runner compete at the state finals, running at the highest level and getting recruited. Standing there, we realized something we could not shake.
Talent is everywhere. Access is not.
That moment became the lens. Because once we saw it clearly for one runner, we started seeing it everywhere. Talented kids. Hardworking families. Big dreams. But worn-out shoes. Missed opportunities. Support that came too late—or not at all.
What began as one quiet act of service opened our eyes to a much bigger need. One quiet yes at a time was beautiful… but it was not enough. Something greater had to be built.
GivJoi exists to create access when it matters most—through shoes, camp sponsorships, race entry, and track projects that help young runners keep moving forward.
We call the people who join us Joy Builders. Because this is about more than giving money. It is about helping a young runner keep believing. Keep growing. Keep going.
If that matters to you too, become a Joy Builder.

How GivJoi Creates Access
Access is not one thing. It is the equipment, experiences, and environments that help young runners move forward with confidence, joy, and opportunity.

Shoes, apparel, and essential gear that help young runners show up ready, move with confidence, and stay in the journey.

Camps, races, and meaningful experiences that help young runners build belief, expand vision, and step into opportunity.

Tracks, training environments, and places to gather that give young runners safe, meaningful spaces to move, belong, and grow.

Why GivJoi Exists
Too many young runners have the heart, discipline, and potential to grow—but not always the access.
Sometimes the barrier is gear. Sometimes it is the lack of meaningful experiences. Sometimes it is the absence of places to train, belong, and be seen.
GivJoi exists to help close that gap with joy, dignity, and real opportunity.
Choose Your Way to Give
There is more than one way to create access. Give once, build consistent support, or fund a specific project.

Help build consistent access and long-term opportunity for young runners.
Give MonthlySupport a Specific Access Pathway
Choose a current initiative and help turn generosity into something a young runner can feel, use, and remember.
Every local village can become a bridge between community movement and youth access.

His parents mentioned he had just returned.
But when I looked down at his shoes, I knew immediately what I was seeing.
His shoes were done.
By that point, Jamie and I had already spent countless hours learning everything we could about running, recovery, injury prevention, fueling, and what young athletes really need to stay healthy and keep growing.
And in that moment, I knew this was not just about effort.
He did not need more heart.
He did not need more courage.
He did not need to want it more.

Just a simple yes to a real need.
And when the shoes shipped… and then arrived… you could feel the joy and relief.
They were so thankful.
They were a big family, and we understood firsthand how heavy real life can be when people are doing their best and still stretching everything they have.
What stayed with us was not just that we helped solve a problem.
It was what happened next.
Later, we watched that same local runner compete at the state finals, running at the highest level and getting recruited.
And standing there, we realized something we could not shake:
Sometimes the gap between a young runner staying stuck and a young runner stepping into what is possible is not talent.
It is not desire.
It is not work ethic.
It is access.
That moment became the lens.
Because once we saw it clearly for one runner, we started seeing it everywhere.
Talented kids.
Hardworking families.
Big dreams.
But worn-out shoes.
Missed opportunities.

GivJoi doesn’t exist to hand out charity.
We exist to build access and environments where belief can grow. Our model is simple and powerful:
Access → Belief → Opportunity → Continuity→
Access to gear, training environments, and developmental experiences
→Belief formed through consistency, community, and support
→Opportunity preserved at the moments it’s most likely to disappear
We don’t decide who deserves success.
We remove the unfair barriers that prevent success from emerging.

This is only the beginning.
GivJoi exists to protect access at the moments opportunity is most fragile...
from first exposure, through development, and into the critical transitions that shape futures—
through community activation, running events, and environments that keep opportunity alive.
Because when access changes, belief changes.
And when belief changes, generations change.
